i wonder what they did before ERNIE CAME AN SAVED THE DAY? can not recall any at the Olympics in 2000 ? when did they start doing the smoking ceremonies?

When the people who have ancestry dating back 60,000 years protest about the date of Australia Day some people seem to get outraged. When these same people offer a Welcome to Country the same people also get outraged.
I think the best thing for those people to do when witnessing and having to endure either of these two scenarios is to stand upright and tall, face the northwest towards the UK and deliver a rousing rendition of God Save The King. If that does not work then salute a few times and tug the forelock and I am sure your worries will abate.
Meanwhile, the rest of the World, whom we have no problem in lecturing regarding human rights, look on somewhat bemused.
the Chinese, Dutch, Russians, French, Indonesians and probably a few more all came to these shores and found no one to trade with no cities, towns ports ect ect only a few stone age people running around the bush no treasures to trade so they all left. the poms thought we have all these unwanted people in our jails we can send them out to the ends of the earth problem solved. they spread out all over the land.
what would have happened if the Russians had set up camp in one corner the French in an other, the Chinese some were else and all the other nationalities that set foot here made some claim?
we would look a bit like EUROPE many languages many countries, many customs/cultures always at war with each other over something!
so we should be thanking the poms that we all speak a common language have basically the same customs live in relative peace for the common benefit of all including the aboriginals who have benefited more from the poms than i'm sure they would have if they were under the thumb of some other race
at least the aboriginals are still here and have not been wiped out (even if we did some terrible things to them)
