Don't start me.
Mind you, I watched the games with interest and am a sports lover.
Though, seriously, talk about an over-reaction.
It is also only coming from our idiot, so called - leaders.
First a public holiday, really?
That put the Jonah on our team immediately.
Now our illustrious leader is pumping 200 mill. into it after a successful 4th place.
Geez we are governed by some prime Knuckleheads.
I am all for sports, kids playing outdoors etc but if you want to play the game, pay the fees.
It appears these gooses are not aware the country has a national debt nearing One Trillion yet they spend like drunken sailors.
Why we have to vote in October is beyond me and not in conjunction with a Federal Election not too far down the track in a similar manner as we did for the national anthem.
Spare me, the significant lack of common sense displayed these days from our illustrious leaders is beyond me.
The strange thing is the consensus of opinion on the ground is so much like the comments here.
I guess this is what we get from immovable obstructions that have their heads in the clouds constantly.

I think you may be a little bit mixed up with your perception. The Matildas were never going to be a threat as far as winning the World Cup was concerned. The suggestion of a public holiday was an off the cuff remark that was then blown out of proportion by the boofheads in the media. Publkic Holidays are granted by the States and at the last meeting of the Premiers and the Government it was then decided that no public holiday would be granted if in the unlikely event the Matildas won.

In relation to the 200 million dollar grant, that is going to all women's sports across the country at grass roots level. It works out at about $15 per head of the female population of Australia. In my view, after education, there is no better investment than investing in sporting facilities for the young and not so young. As far as I can see, none of this is going to the Matildas personally.

In my working career I saw many a lost young person saved by the association with a sporting organisation and the people who provided their time into that organisation. We are an extremely wealthy country and providing an improvement in the facilities and access to sport for women is long overdue. If you want to bitch about wasting money then why not have a look at the 5 billion dollars it costs us for franking credits alone not to mention the billions propping up wealthy people's superannuation.

As they say, don't let the facts spoil a good story and a whinge.

Is there any other country in the world that sees worthy of endless adulation a bunch of wannabes who can do no better than 4th in a competition?

Third of the losers.

all those franking credits and super contributions probably means that those people are not going to draw any pension with all the benefits and concessions that come with a pension, you might think you can save 5 billion dollars but it will cost a lot more in the long run. it is a bit like freezing the rents but all the costs of owning a rental property are going up, soon the number of people buying property to rent will fall and the rental market will get worse, short term gain long term loss!

Tell this is a joke........

Albo has announced that the new Subs will be commanded by the Army.

I suppose it is a big tank, so the Royal Australian Armoured Corps replacement for the M1 Abram's Tank, is a big nuke sub.
