I use R M Williams mats (daughter in law works there) in Patrol, they are formed to collect grass, stone, debris, etc - They can be lifted out and rubbish is contained within the walled mats - I have seen similar at Super Cheap.

My mats are about 15 years old and still very serviceable. I have the "Outback Deep Dish" style but there are other styles.

The mats are dished and able to hold dirt and water. I like the water holding ability as often i use a boat while wearing neoprene dive boots. Those boots get soaked at a boat ramp and release water as I get back in the vehicle to drive. Therefore a pool of salt water on the driver's floor. But careful removal of the dished mat can mean the tide can be released without a soaked floor. If you want complete waterproof, make sure any of those small holes with thin plastic threads are well glued/sealed.

i attached a photo of my driver's side mat. Not sure why my attached pic ended with the particular orientation. The "ROAD GEAR" badge faces the driver's seat. A part of the brake pedal is visible at the opposite end to the "ROAD GEAR" badge.
