125 Million dollar payout.

Unbelievable, and he leaves early in case the payout is reduced under pressure from the shareholders and the inevitable public condemnation.

No moral compass here. How on earth can the board justify this sort of money???

It's obscene.

He jumped ship after the ACCC launched their legal action. Do we have an extradition treaty with Ireland?

Poor little fella, how can he expect to live on that sort of dough, I know lets start a "Go Fund Me " thing to help support him and his bit of "rough"  biggrin

I thought the payout was 24 million?

I also see how QANTAS are considering ways to reclaim some or all of the bonuses being paid.

At the same time they are also looking at repaying the taxpayer funded Covid support, as they really should. I laughed when he told the Senate committee the best way to repay the taxpayer was to be kept afloat, and then pay corporate tax, especially as over his 15 year tenure, I dont think they paid tax, even in profitable years, due to past loss write downs.

Shame he destroyed the trust and goodwill of a great Australian company.

No offence to the members here but he's Irish and gay. Say no more, self explanatory.
Yes ridiculous money and jumps ship when the proverbial is about to hit the fan.
Yet another example of looking after the shareholders.

Whilst the amount of money lost is obscene the loss of the Spirit of Australia is even sadder.

I once worked for Sydney's largest manufacturer in the 1970/80/90s.

The company self destructed due to management self personal interest, either within the company or out of it. Mostly out of it in one form or another, self arranged targets for maximum one's own monetary goals.

Whether the aluminium is in planes or buildings, same self interest at the top of the pyramid. Always was, always will be.

Perhaps now, the guy who pushed a custard tart into Joyces face at that long ago news conference will finally get his OAM and free flights for life.

I wonder if the CBA will be the next corporate to hit the headlines with the top executives taking obscene massive pays by making the company looking good in the short term for long term losses.

as far as Qantas goes the person taking over from the little Irish dude, will she be held accountable for past trespasses, as she was right there beside him rubberstamping everything that has been going on?

DogBox, You took the words that I was about to make about the performance of the new CEO who I think as the CFO "Chief Financial Officer" would have virtually been second in charge. I doubt if the new CEO will change that much.  Plus the board should be sacked and a new Chairman and directors appointed. But you know and I know it is jobs for the boys and now the girls.

Thankfully we do not own shares in that company.  Note company's name is not mentioned in my comments.

I have just FACT CHECKED and here is the result.

""The CEO "" who retired early this month after a regulator lawsuit accused Qantas (QAN.AX) of selling tickets on thousands of already-cancelled flights, took home A$21.4 million in the 2023 financial year, according to the company's annual report, published on Wednesday.20 Sept 2023.
Plus this.

Incoming Qantas CEO's pay packet revealed
In a statement to the ASX, Qantas confirmed she will receive a $1.6 million base salary - a 50 percent increase on her current base pay. Her total target remuneration, which includes short and long-term bonuses, is actually around $5.8 million.

That is why you will never see these types of people in a queue at Centrelink.

The them and usses.
