Surprise!

What a surprise, a Collingwood player who knocked out an opponent flying at him in mid air gets exonerated at the tribunal.

You have simply got to have Collingwood in the finals.

Money,! money! money!

Total farce.

Not an AFL fan I think they are cowards the way they go after another player, after hearing this on the news I had a look on Utube briefly the magpies player was supposed to be blocking the kicked ball, so why was he leading with his elbow striking and concussing the other player?

From what I have seen in the 3 codes AFL, League and Rugby it's Rugby who look after their players the most the other two will have to put plenty of Cash away to pay out players with brain injury in the near future.

Anyway just my gripe for the day.

It's fantastic that the tribunal made the decision based on the evidence rather than the emotional claptrap that the melbourne football club engaged in ever since the unfortunate incident.

I don't believe Maynard could have changed direction once he left the ground.

The Melbourne player has been wearing a helmet for years, to try and avoid concusslon issues suffered in the past.

Might be time to hang up the helmet now.

Err, incorrect Yobarr again. The victim of the collision was out cold for 2 full minutes. He did not fall "in a dramatic fashion", unless you can explain how and deny simple physics of being dramatic while out cold...?? I leave such incidents to those left with the decision as in tribunal. I don't believe they are biased. Maynard couldn't change direction mid-flight and the concussed player had just kicked the ball. What is great is that Maynard visited the victims home personally with a bottle of wine and flowers for his partner and had to endure a frosty reception from his colleagues. He even rang the victims mother. That's not heard of nowadays. Credit where credits due.

BTW Yobarr... is it necessary to use the descriptions- "poovta-ball" and "clown" ? Along with all other unnecessary insulting descriptions in your toolbox. Unacceptable.

Have to agree eaglemax, name calling of this sort is not warranted, as to the incident AFL is played at a frenectic pace so incidents like this are going to happen.

First up, l hate Collingwood, but Kebbin can l suggest you look at the replay of the said incident, he, Maynsrd WAS NOT LEADING WITH HIS ELBOW, as you have stated.

His elbow was not raised but at its side, it was a perfect hip and shoulder bump while he was off the ground after jumping to try and smother the ball. He then made contact with the other players head.

I feel he should have been suspended but please at least report it as it happened, not what you "think" happened
