Legality of fitting an Awning to the other side of the Caravan

Fitting a 2nd awning to the caravan would that potentially make the van over width.

My thinking is when I  fit the new awning, perhaps I  could repurchase the old one fitting a new skin instead of  8 ft have a 4-5 ft projection, even the length may need to be shortened due to various windows and access hatches.

GD, The maximum width of a caravan (including awning) is 2.5 meters. myrigadventures.com/caravan-sizes-dimensions/

If you cannot fit the additional awning within that dimension, it will be deemed illegal. An eagle eyed "Plod" would canary your rig with the possibility of making you have it towed by a contractor with appropriate permit.

Most people fit a "sail track" on the offside wall to allow the fitting of a slide in awning, mainly to keep the fridge side in the shade.

Agree Possum, max width is 2500mm (although heavy trucks only are now allowed 2550mm due to making way for overseas widths) If you were able to afford t0mm or so in your width and still be under 2500mm you could mount the awning roll at the top edge of the roof with only the awning arms added to the width. Worth considering. If it's to shade to rear of the fridge, I installed a computer fan 100mm to the inside of the top vent with a variable switch. Tony.

Beat me to it. Mount the bulk of it on the roof.
