Doing a half lap via Perth from Melbourne - advice please

Hi All,

Looking at doing a half lap from Melbourne, originally we intended to do the traditional anti-clockwise but we now think leaving Vic. in late March and going clockwise might suit us better as we "get going" a bit earlier without arriving in Darwin too early, (we want to do Mindil Beach etc)

I know the thinking is you get prevailing wind assistance across the Nullarbor but I have read on this site that some get massive headwinds coming down the WA north coast so is it really a huge consideration which way you go?

Both West Coast & Nullarbor, have had tailwind one day headwind the next. If you have time be patient.

We have been both ways several times, we have had head/tail/side winds in each direction. Plan your trip according to where you want to be when, not on winds that change direction regularly.
