What sort of people are "influenced" by "influencers"? What does a young, snot-nosed brat know about anything, and what qualifies them to "influence" others?

Seems to me that the young snot nosed brat doesn't have to know much about anything, least of all about what they are advertising. The main requirement is the ability to attract an audience. How that might be done probably says more about the audience than it does the influencer.

I would guess that there is less than 1% of useful content on social media and Youtube. I'm hoping that Twitter / X goes bankrupt. Maybe that will give the Internet (and Musk) the shakeup that it needs.

Nothing wrong with a bit of bull**** now and again .. However the differance on here though is that grey nomads would i assume (age related with experiance) know bullsh-t when they hear it ,and so will ignore.
Not so the young and incredibly stupid brainless buggers who seem to be every ware .
Rock on people, have a great day .
Andy .
Influencers, as a description of action, is a term that sits alongside Click bait. Have you noticed that every headline on sites like NineMSN is something written to influence the viewer to open the story? Once the story opens, several targeted ads appear around the main content display. Influencers rarely provide anything of value and rely on the Numpties that follow them to provide Likes that the content creators turn into money. For example, search You Tube for any of the mindless crap posted by the Sovereign Citizens who bait cops into arresting them. The video of the exchange is recorded by the fool who gets arrested after some inane and outrageous. If the Sov Cit gets his car window broken and towed, so what. Its is the footage that is the important outcome as that gets posted in the hope that the video goes viral and ultimately gets sponsored and is a source of money for the original content creator. Getting outraged by the garbage put out by the Influencer plays into their hands because you are contributing to the underlying motivation behind the posting of stupid ideas and stories.

It is my view that anyone who takes any notice of these "so called influences" is demonstrating a very weak personality with little or no ability to analyse their own life and make the best decisions for themselves.

Well said! Anybody who allows themself to be affected by the rabbiting-on of such "influencers" would surely have to have a severe personality disorder? Cheers

Yet most of you tune into ABC and the morons spruiking on left wing talk back radio and hang on every word.
There, I corrected it for you.
It is not just "influencers" who influence you. It is all public sources thay vie for your attention and attempt to influence you into their point of view. ABC and Sky are just the same, only diametrically opposed in their political viewpoints. Whatever happened to just giving us the news.

Those with at least half a brain wouldnt listen to it in the first place, let alone consider it in coming to their own conclusions.
The ABC is hardly left wing. Their news and political programs all have Ruperts lackeys as their so called guest experts.
What sort of people are "influenced" by "influencers"? What does a young, snot-nosed brat know about anything, and what qualifies them to "influence" others?
I'm often influenced by a big White bear promoting a beverage. But I'd hardly describe him as a snot-nosed brat that knows nothing.
But to answer your question. Absolutely nothing qualifies them to "influence" others. Most of them are no better than actors/actresses on TV promoting <insert product here> or models promoting a clothes line by wearing "so and so" on the red carpet. Its just become another way for companies to reach out to impressionable people to flog their product.
But if you own the company (e.g. Gwyneth Paltrow or Emma Watson) are you still an influencer if you're promoting what your company produces?
Those with at least half a brain wouldnt listen to it in the first place,
So to have an opinion on Sky etc and you have never watched it? That's somewhat confusing that you are super critical of something you stated only folks with half a brain wouldn't listen to it in the first place.
Personally I watch both Sky and ABC and consider all that is said and then draw my on conclusions. To me that demonstrates a balanced approach .
Cheers

Au contraire Aussie1. Initially I watched SKY from time to time and discovered that it was just Rupert's lackeys being hyper critical of anything the ALP did and swooning over the Man of Many Ministries and his gang of pirates. That fat bloke with the beard who sobbed uncontrollably on camera when his mate lost, the likes of Rowen Dean and that Iranian woman and don't get me started on Alan Jones or that boofhead Bolt or worse still, Bernardi. After a couple of watches of that bilge I switched it off and haven't been back since.
I listen to and watch news to hear the news, not some talking head with an agenda giving me their version of what they thing it all means.
People can watch whatever they like. What I don't particularly like is them then coming onto this forum armed with their newfound wisdom and preaching to those who don't agree with their view.

Exactly my approach, although I very rarely actually watch any TV news, getting most from the internet.
Routinely, my first news source is abc.net.au. I find the format easy for a quick view of headlines, then drill down to see any content of interest. But of course, that is left leaning. So I also go to Sky's site. Many articles are the same, but oftem with a different perspective. Both sites omit articles that do not fit with their agenda.
So I get to read both sides of a story. All media is biased. So getting all your news from one source leaves you open to indoctrination. In most cases all you know about a subject is what the media tells you. If you only know one side of the discussion how can you make your own reasoned judgement.
DMaxer apparently has a background in legal. How would the courts be if they only listened to one side?
Because Are We Lost, when one makes submissions in a court it is based on legal principles, evidence given under oath and facts not in dispute. A lawyer does not address on his or her opinion, That is neither relevant, allowed or admissible.
DMaxer needs to understand that night time Skynews programs like Sharri, Credit, Bolt etc are opinion based programs.
They openly advertise that they are opinions, unlike the lefty ABC who's charter is to provide a balance reporting, and fail in all facets of reporting.
That fat bloke you denigrate actually before the last election called it a Labor victory, likewise up untill the last month of the voice, he was cautious about a no victory.
Then he does a show a month in country towns across Australia, a recent show in Mildura he with the aid of his viewers were able to donate valuable medical equipment to the hospital, that governments won't supply hospitals with.
That fat bloke is Paul Murray sure he leans to the right but he reinforces his opinions with data, less than a few days ago many pundits were suggesting at the next election that Lib/Nats would win, where his call was a minority Labor Government.
