It's interesting what he says about slavery, especially his references to the Bible. The Christian God implicitly allows slavery in two of his (her?) Ten Commandments, yet William Wilberforce used the Bible as his inspiration for his abolition campaign. I wonder if the people of his day thought of him as "woke".

Personally, I have never given William "What's his name" a thought. As much as I choose to ignore Woke BS and it's dedicated "followers", some of whom are on this forum. But there is sometimes some humour in their Woke ramblings.

The Rabid Right, and the Looney Left (or Woke as some prefer), generally inhabit most fora in equal numbers.
This forum is no different. We have a number of members who, to say the least, fiercely hold an opinion, which incidently is fine if it doesnt result in abuse of others.
Unfortunately, neither side acknowledge the possession of sensible arguments or opinions by the other.

I disagree what this whole "Woke' thing amounts to is a crisis of irrelevence by a bunch of pencil neck academica and MSM media drooling types.
So what they do is start a cot fight where the toddlers throw the rattles at each other and count on the Idiotic kabuki of mock outrage to pump thier respective brands of bull**** ...
"Woke" is just a "look at me " marketing ploy for a product no one cares about or wants.
Both the so called Rock Ribbed Conservatives Right ... and the Howling Wounded Heartened Left ... are just cynical hucksters for a perspective that doesn't exist. For them it does... gets them sinecures in Think Tanks .. Ker Ching
