Further to what PeterD said, I also bought a batch of them from Amazon, which was very economical. Only a few dollars each when bought in a batch of eight. I carry them with me so that I can donate them to those on the road I meet who are in need.

I was at RTM recently and thought I saw a US-threaded adaptor, but when I went to check on the website so that I could give the link I could only see BSP ones, so perhaps I was mistaken.

Sorry for the massive delay in updating this...

Long story short, I got a tad peed off and gave up because, no matter what I did, with correct American Thread etc fitting, it keeps leaking *sigh*

Seems I'll have to have a plumber come out... which is annoying for something that should be so darn simple!!

Oh and the suggested fitting from Mitre 10 (which I also thought would be right) was, unfortunately, completely not the right fitting or size (both ends of the fitting were wayyy too small)

Try putting a another washer in as well as the filter washer.

Be careful buying new taps or plumbing fittings from hardware stores.

The new plumbing fittings have a lower content of copper & look yellowish when cleaned.

The decades old plumbing fittings polish up like new & have a far more red look to them due to the higher copper percentage.

I have been reseating all the taps while at it for our block of units. Actually most didn't need doing (thankfully less work), quality taps to start with. So simply just new washers.

Dropped them in a bucket of vinegar for a few days, then a bit of elbow grease with one of those yellow/green sponges from the kitchen.

Had bought some new taps, rubbish quality is being polite! So cleaning up the old taps to keep them going for another half century or so.
