Problem with Vast and Foxtel in caravan.

Have a new van with the Sphere Astrolink Fully Automatic Satellite Dish installed on the roof.

My setup worked switching via remote between Foxtel, Vast and Apple TV for a couple of days and then the Vast lost signal strength and by turning the power supply off to the Foxtel box the Vast signal returns. Both Foxtel and Apple TV work ok and can switch between both..Vast has no signal

My setup

Four way coaxial multiswitch splitter (odrok MS-2401) receiving two coax inputs from dish.

Two coax outputs to IQ3 box

One coax outputs to Vast box

One coax outputs to Sphere Astrolink box

HDMI switch with remote for Vast, Foxtel and Apple TV inputs

HDMI splitter with input from HDMI switch and output to two TV points in the van.

Thing Ive tried

Replaced HDMI switch and everything worked for a couple of days.

Hope it makes sense.

Jack

Thanks in advance

Hello Jack;
Just a thought about your problem with your vast box; you mentioned that when turning the power off to foxtel box the vast signal returns, have you considered there could be a voltage drop condition when both boxes are powered up, not sure what power your are using; if 12volt for both then it could be that the vast box is more sensitive to voltage drop threshold, we had a similar experience when the 12 volt cabling size in our caravan caused a voltage drop to our vast box, we replaced it with larger cross sectional area cable and the problem went away, hope this helps.
Kind Regards
Joe H.

Hello Joe,

Thanks for your reply and thinking the same and will investigate a possible voltage drop issue.

kind regards

Jack

Thought you would want to resolve this issue b/4 your trip revamping wiring on the road is a bummer.

Mischief, Ran out of time. Working okay at the moment being able to switch between vast, fox and apple tv without losing signal to the vast box, hoping its long lasting. Thinking that the satellite multiswitch maybe be faulty and purchased a new Satking brand and will change if and when it plays up again.

Hi Jack60; I have installed several sattilight systems in of all things and even a converted tour bus that had been turned into a mobile home. With the dish instead of fitting a single or duel output LNB, i have fitted what you would call a quad output LNB. This has 4 outputs, two of these outputs would go to your foxtel receiver as per usual. While the other two cables would go to ( and in my case the customer had two Vast receivers in the bus ) your vast receiver, the forth would have to be a spair cable. The dish was mounted on to the roof of the bus and was fully auto seaking for c1.

You problem could be that some of the channels on foxtel are transmitted horizontal ( special events etc ) and the voltage from the foxtell reciever changes from a vertical signal ( 13 volts for a vertical signal ) to 17 volt for a horizontal signal. The change in voltage is what is most likely the problem as the change in this voltage and as your Vast signal is all vertical, this why you would be losing your Vast reception. The change involtage to the LNB is what changes the LNB from a vertical to a horizontal signal.

Yes you could have a faulty multiplexer ( never had one they just work ), but for all of my systems that i have desighned and installed these mulitplexers are only used on big MATV systems.
