CSR Marco Ricciardi from Toronto police at a law and order news conference has advised all home owners to not use faraday pouches to protect your car keys. Rather, he advises car owners to leave their key fobs at the front door "because criminals only want your car keys" and this prevents them from breaking in to your home.
With modern vehicles that is the main reason for breakins for vehicle theft. That said if the keys are taken with out actualy causing damage to the house, the Insurance company may use that as an out for a pay out on the damage to the vehicle, as the keys werent considerd as secure. When i was working in a Ford dealership the boss had to fit a secure key safe for all the vehicles on the business to keep the insurance company happy.

A truly jaw dropping vid I had to watch three times thinking at first it was me losing the plot and not understanding what I just heard and saw. The Toronto papers are giving Mr Ricciardi a serve today. Canada is experiencing major car theft for overseas shipment and their port security is geared towards INCOMING freight, not outgoing.

I see your Canadian stupidity and raise you some Australian stupidity. Local police at a recent citizens meeting about youth crime recommended that citizens leave their car keys and Wallets on the kitchen bench at night so that any thieves breaking in can easily find them and not look any further (because thats all they want when they break in) and this will potentially prevent harming the occupants of the premises.

Better still why not just leave them in the car, god forbid the little darlings should have to walk home.

and simply let them be wrong.
It's time we had a law like the US 2nd amendment, pehaps a perp looking at a 12 gauge shotgun muzzel pointed in their direction will change their attitude.
Hitem with a bean bag or rock salt aimed at their legs will adjust their outlook on life.
