Caravan step

We have a 2018 Windsor Seka 552 poptop, which we enjoy.

It did have a single aluminium step under the door, but a trip to Mt Augustus and a big rock and the step was wiped out.

So we went to a fold-up step which I take outside when the van is a bit high.

recently I have been looking at the Ranger double pull out step (we saw it at the caravan show).. what thoughts are out there, I looking for a step that when folded up underneath doesnt stick out too much

I have the single step version of that one. Easy to fit and folds away well. Had it for years. No problems.

That step is for an off road van which may be higher than yours so consider whether you require a single or double step.  I have an off-road van with a single step that results in the rise being 330mm from the ground to the step and 230mm from the step to the door threshold.

Take a measurement from the ground to the underside of the floor of your van and a measurement from the ground to the door threshold and we can work out what your rises will be and how low off the ground it will be when folded up.

Some useful specifications for it.

Useful Dimensions.....
Step length is 550mm x step width 200mm
Distance from top of first step to top of 2nd step is 130mm
Forward throw from front of mounting bracket to front of bottom step is 510mm
Drop to first step is 130mm from mounting frame
300mm DROP DOWN MEASUREMENT
HEIGHT OF THE ASSEMBLY WHEN FOLDED UP IS 250mm ( TOP OF MOUNTING BRACKET TO UNDERSIDE OF BOTTOM STEP).

thanks Tim, I was just doing my research then and yeah I was looking at the height when tucked away and 250mm is a bit much, so thanks am looking at single steps, the last step was a camec one and yeah was destroyed to easy by a single rock.

The ranger single step doesnt seem to be available, so looking at the TRA 545 Single Aluminium Pull Out Step, only takes up 150mm folded up

I recently fitted that single step to our Jurgens Lunagazer, works really well.

The only problem is I used to use the folding step to help reach when fitting

the Aussie Traveller de flappers.

I recently fitted a fold-out double step to my off-road van and it does hang down quite a bit when folded, but such is the price for keeping the other half happy. I just have to avoid rocks...
