Hi all,

First post here. Hopefully not the last (or we'll never get that fence built).

Have travelled a reasonable amount over the last 40 years, both on two wheels (now using a 'wing with a trailer) and towing a caravan. Most common destination for us lately is Mt Panorama where I've worked at the races for the last 7 years, but we really prefer the outback (who'd have thought that?).

We have had 4 different vans over the years, but have sold the last one and we're now traveling in a motorhome (Avan Ovation M6, called "Olivia" - say it aloud, it sounds like "I live 'ere" to my deaf ears). I've just finished installing a 1500W inverter driven by our 300Ah LiFePO4 battery and an 8kW diesel heater. I still need to upgrade the solar - I've installed a 100A solar controller that knows about LiFePO4 batteries, but I'm only getting about 10A off the two panels the MH came with, so I'm likely to tear out the inadequate (6mm) cabling and install better (21mm) cabling with at least one 450W (advertised, expecting no more than about 240W or 20A) solar panel.

We also had a Redfoot levelling system installed - expensive, but just pressing a button to have the whole thing done for you is superb. The only other change is the Houghton rooftop aircon to a Gree, which has proven to be a good (quieter!) move.

Looking forward to more travels (we're doing outback Qld very soon, and Tasmania later this year). Maybe we'll see you around!

Pic is at Lake Hart in April this year.

Welcome to the Forum OT.

Lake Hart (SA) a wonderful spot to spend a few days or a week just relaxing in the beautiful bush. Often overlooked by those in a rush to get to a destination, rather than enjoying a journey.

We've been there a few times now, I have pictures of two other rigs we've taken there as well. It's definitely an understated place, particularly if you enjoy a little solitude now and again.

Now that we have Starlink with a Gen 3 antenna (grr, actually!) we're pretty well set to be anywhere we want. We did buy the dish a little early, SpaceX now have a 'backpack' version which uses even less power, but at least we have internet anywhere at all.
