THE HAIRCUT..
Permalink Closed

"Blessed are those that can give without remembering, and take without forgetting.
One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.'
The florist was pleased and left the shop.
When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.
Later, a policeman comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replies, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The policeman was happy and left the shop.
The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.
Then a Member of Parliament came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill , the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The Member of Parliament was very happy and left the shop.
The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen Members of Parliament lined up waiting for a free haircut.
And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.
If you don't forward this you have no sense of humour.

Sign in a barber shop reads"-

1. I need your head so I can run my business.

2. Absence makes the hair grow longer.

I guess that these days it would also apply to beards.

Now that reminds me, that I am just about due to take my head to the barber.

What is the Oxford definition of woke?

The original meaning of woke is to awaken after sleep but the word now has other social connotations. "By the mid-20th century," says the Oxford English Dictionary (OED), "woke had been extended figuratively to refer to being 'aware' or 'well informed' in a political or cultural sense.
Progressive or left-wing attitudes or practices, esp. those opposing social injustice or discrimination, that are viewed as doctrinaire, self-righteous, pernicious, or insincere.
So I take it you stand for the opposite do you? Being unaware, uninformed, supporting social injustice and discrimination. That sounds like an interesting world.  Is it run by a "little corporal"?

What a well thought out and edifying post, Aussie 1.

I thought you would be too busy getting your Warden of the Cinque Ports uniform out (a la Bob M.) to wear in 9 days time when we celebrate NSW being colonised and becoming a penal colony. I think it is fabulous that the rest of Australia celebrate our State's crowning achievement.

Nah, but I still don't quite understand why some even remain in Australia which, according to some has such a terrible past.

No one is forcing you or anyone else to to stay here in the best country in the world. Happy to assist if finances are limited for your one way ticket out of Oz   biggrin

Everyone is entitled to have an opinion Aussie, even if it is contrary to yours.

I think one of the attributes of being a good citizen is to acknowledge one's history, even if it is chequered.

Instead of worrying about what other people think perhaps your time would be better spent investing in a dictionary so that you understand the meaning of words that you spew out, cobber. biggrinbiggrin

I must have hit a nerve for that response biggrin

And yes, you are correct re everyone entitled to an opinion. Even yours albeit incorrect no

And I disagree with your comment re attributes, surprise surprise.

Nothing "chequered" about MY countries history, in my opinion. Only a great and proud one.

I would rather invest in the offer made to you and others who are not happy here  than what you humorously suggested biggrin

Hope you have a really great Australia Day along with the majority of true blue Aussies will have.

Cheers Cobber.

Ah yes. Anyone who doesn't agree with your views should leave the country. That mantra was all the rage in a country in Europe during the thirties if I recall.

No, you didn't hit any nerve. I just have that reaction when confronted with ignorance, stupidity and general jingoism.

Is that a legal jargon response, if so a big fail  biggrin

Yeah, I definitely hit a nerve. Now chill Cobber and prepare for a big AUSTRALIA DAY as it appears you will still be here biggrin

A big STOP SIGN only due to some thinking they are superior and better than the rest of us.

I too am happy to kick the can also for a few to venture overseas - for good.
There a few "imports" burning cars and spray painting houses could do with a few airline tickets.

Looking forward to Australia Day.
It is for Australians......
