Hello all. Noel here, first post in about 5 years. I have an issue with a rim/tyre on my 2019 Jayco Swan Outback. The tyre slowly deflates over time, whether on the hub or as a spare. I have taken it three times to tyre places such as Bridgestone who put it under pressure under water etc and advise there is no leak. But it goes flat. Could it be a crack in the rim ? Where do I get a new rim ? I've searched heaps of places on-line without success. Does anybody know of sales places that might stock same rims .. in WA ? Can I just put in a tube, or do these not exist any more ? Any thoughts and comments appreciated. Cheers.
Is it an alloy rim?
Some alloy rims can be porous and will leak very slowly over time. Many of the old magnesium rims were known for it but often those rims supplied for caravans are of cheap manufacture and odd ones suffer the same.
The fix is to remove the tyre and give the inside of the rim a good heavy coat of an epoxy paint such as one of the good quality rust preventative paints. Dulux do one in a range of colours. The name escapes me at the moment.
They do both tins and pressure packs.
