Mind boggled newbie ford ranger v Toyota hilux

Im a newbie.  Im just starting out trying to put a rig together.  I recently saw a ford ranger which seemed like a good deal. It has a 3.2 turbo diesel with 264000 klm. I see a lot of negative info online about these. I liked it because it has had the GVM upgrade and all wet to go with a jayco sportstar slide on   Anyone got anything positive to say about a ford ranger 3.2 turbio diesel.   Also what i the best way to connect a slide on to your Ute?    My current t Ute Toyota hilux D4D needs upgrade and some form of hardware to attach to chassis   Any advice would be most welcome

We owned a slide-on for a few years. Bad idea.
Heavier than an equivalent motorhome, much higher CofG with water tanks above the chassis instead of below, too hard to take off and put on.
I strongly advise against slide-ons unless they are seriously light weight and top of the market versions, then you might as well buy a motorhome.

And a dual cab would be the absolute worst choice of vehicle because the weight is much too far back and the rear axle is likely to be overloaded.

Be very careful.
Cheers,
Peter
