Not Much Activity

Of the 18 forums on GN only 6 have been active since October 1st. Are we losing interest or members?

I agree with Hendo. There are very few new posts recently.
Thankfully, the usual good contributors keep topping up the most important forum, "Just Joking". Thank you.

Have been doing a lot of work (unpaid as always) with my neighbour on our block of Units. Also doing too many repairs on our own Unit. Some things which should have been decades ago. So have been very busy on non caravaning & car stuff.

Although as a temporary solution I installed my compressor's aftercooler on top of a box in the boot. There was nowhere else to put it. It should really go before the air tank. Having it this way we can also do refrigerated cooling by dropping it in the fridge to condense the last of the moisture in the compressed air.

We sleep in the back of the car so everything is quick release fittings.

Looks like a dog's breakfast, but it works.

Little wonder.

The brake controller post above, to me, reeks of A.I. ???

I could be wrong, but looks fishy, particularly these "newbie" posters.

I have noticed this on other forums. A somewhat first technical question. Then a few positive helpful answers, then never to be seen again.

A bit like a local busy street where there is no choice but to stop to let the other drivers out of the chicane.

Some wave their hand to say thankyou, an increasing number pass as if it is their birthright.

I wave in "mirror fashion" to say thankyou to send message regardless.

I am starting to get to the point I will "park" the car. I have more than enough funds & also time to say FU with permanent chicane fixture.

I also regularly walk this street over the decades & see the increasing number of birthright priority drivers.

I, too, am not missing those bigoted know-it-alls that call everyone that disagrees with their incorrect statements as bleating brain dead etc etc.

I second that emotion.

I had to resort to completely ignoring any postings from some, they were both predictable and unkind in their comments.
There is no need for that........

When some benighted person comes onto the forum spruiking spurious, fallacious and baseless commentary and asserting it as factual, even after the error in their statement has been respectfully pointed out, well, they deserve a serve.

If it just a topic where opinions differ then everyone is entitled to an opinion. When there is an answer based on established facts and the same person still wants to argue to the contrary, there is only one language they will understand.

I don't think they get offended. They probably get it several times a day when they are that thick.

A significant number of members spent a lot of time touring in the remoter parts of the land. Many don't have internet access all of the time. Even when we get mobile coverage "hot-spotting" GN's isn't top priority.

If someone is qualified in a certain area then I have no issue with that person taking the time to give a knowledgeable view on a subject in which they are proficient.

What I find irritating is when someone goes to the trouble of not only posting a qualified opinion but also gives the correct authority or source they are relying upon, only to have someone, totally lacking in the relative qualification or study, asserting that it is incorrect.

I have never called anyone on here braindead or bleating. I have on occasions anticipated a bout of ilithiophobia as imminent and that has caused certain people to then out themselves as the cause. I can't help it if when I feel a bout coming on that someone feels the need to self diagnose their own cerebral capacity.

Put it this way, it is more entertaining than having to suffer a poster who, whatever the topic may be, turns it into another chapter of his favourite subject, himself.

Let's see if we get someone else to self identify and outing themselves! biggrinbiggrin

Do I detect the possibility of some lively debate?, certainly hope so as long as it is respectful. Yes there are folks on here Dmaxer, who go to great lengths to tell everyone how good their setup is without answering the posters question. When I come across those I just skip through them.

A while back I decided to join another forum which I thought would be similar in content to this one, but have more freedom of expression. Not one of my better decisions. We have had our differences overtime but I always had respect for your views on legal matters, it's just that I reserve the right to an opinion even if it is legally wrong!!! I am a stubborn old git.

PS. I see that your love affair with the ilithio thingy has not diminished!!

Magnarc, my man, nice to hear from you. I agree, a bit of robust discussion is good for everyone. When it resorts to name calling, all it signifies is that the person is losing the debate.

Everyone should have an opinion on legal matters. Although I studied the law it doesn't mean that I agree with some of it or some of the decisions. Nothing like being on the wrong end of a decision only to have to stand and say "as the court pleases" and then wander off and explain to some crestfallen client why their case failed, especially if you know the decision was probably legally right but morally wrong.

As to ilithiophobia, it is a belter. Please feel free to use it whenever the need arises. It is a fairly new word to the English language. The best part about it is that when you use it, few people know what it means and it is not until later when they either google it or use a dictionary that the full impact hits. A bit like a stick of verbal dynamite with a very long fuse.

Go in good health and peace my friend.
