With insurance it isn't always the cheapest premium that matters it is the obtaining of the right coverage.

Re (With insurance it isn't always the cheapest premium that matters it is the obtaining of the right coverage)

Agree, and Paying up when the need arises.

We are into our Insurer for $13,500 after the side of our caravan had to be re-skinned. So I will accept reasonable increases in premiums.

Have an American ex workmate in the US, he is quite well off and self insures for a number of reasons......

I would only self insure, If I was in a similar situation (which I am Not)

thats part of the problem.. you dont know how good insurer is until you making a claim

Insure stuff that you cannot afford to lose.
If you can increase the claim excess, it may reduce the premium substantially, while still providing protection for the proportion that you cannot afford to lose.
Cheers,
Peter

Try an insurance broker/broker firm.

"lets go caravan insurance" is backed by Zuric insurance but sold through and agent acting for them as NM insurance P/L

so not sure if NM insurance is legit or not. download the PDF and that all reads OK but hesitant about trusting them. Might revisit NRMA and try reducing amounts on value and increasing excess

Be careful, apparently if you change to a new company, you will get a great rate, but the next years they will hike up their price. So back to where you began, unless you change each year
