6.9°C this morning in Sydney at our place. It's such a waste of energy & time mopping up water. Tomorrow morning it is supposed to be 5°C, & we have had this in previous years. So I am expecting even more condensation. Wish we had double glazing & thermal break frames. In Germany they use triple glazing. In Norway they are starting to use quadruple glazing.

I'm in a block of units, double glazing unfortunately isn't going to happen.
If I leave the multiple layers of curtains open then there is no condensation, but heat flys out the window.
Heat loss for each degree difference in temperature per square metre of glazing is about:
85 watts single glazing
30 watts double glazing
12 watts triple glazing
7 watts quadruple glazing
So tomorrow morning at 5°C as suggested by BOM, if I want 18°C inside, there is 13°C difference x 85 watts = 1100 watts of heat going out through each square metre of glazing. Also include the aluminium frame as it is a better heatsink than glass!

A couple of decades ago I vacuumed the roof space, to the nth degree! There was zero insulation. Fitted Air cell/Kingspan building bubble wrap under the roof tiles. An absolute sh!t of a job, especially getting down to the gutters, but I got the knack for it with a stick.
Then the ceiling got batts. I have since replaced all the batts (with better acoustic batts) as we had a rat problem. So many dead rats in the roof. They had also eaten the insulation off electrical wiring.
It is actually common area but the building wasn't going to pay for it. But since we had no intention of moving we paid everything.
We knew the previous owners & they said the Unit was freezing in winter & a sauna in summer. We moved in in summer & the heat was ridiculous. The insulation made a massive difference.
There are actually two templates.

The problem is, if there is any leakage of air between the glazing you end up with condensation. My sister in-law in Germany has one window which was damaged & the argon escaped.
I saw the condensation each morning, it would slowly go over the day.

A couple we know did a full reno a few years ago (the guy is a builder) and they went for maximum energy efficiency with help from an academic/expert from nearby uni. Lots of insulation plus the whole house is wrapped under the cladding and then checked for any leaks etc. They require only a fraction of the normal heating & cooling, and then only for very short periods. They imported triple-glazed windows from Germany to Australia for less than it would have cost for double-glazed from an Australian supplier.
