(Preview)
I was wondering if there are any more of us going to Tassie this summer. I hope to be going early November and come back to the mainland late February. Now it would be nice to meet up with some of the nomads here. Dawa

Update time. What now?
(Preview)
After performing well over the past year and 27000kms my 1979 Hi Ace needs major work to bring it back to good working order. I knew that it was not the best and that is another reason why I made it back to the Gold Coast a bit faster than was expected. The mechanic's assessment of the van is that two of the cy...

A short history lesson
(Preview)
Taking tours out of Melbourne in the 70's, when travelling north, I would always drive into the tiny SA town of Terowie. I would stop at the end of the main street, ask the passengers to leave the coach and walk the full length of the towns main street. Then I promised to buy a drink for the first passenger t...

I didnt manage to catch up with John - seemed to be following him everywhere - but I too have stopped for a bit. Did 10,000 km over 64 days from Perth to MacKay to stay with family for a while. Enjoyed it so much that I am going to keep going late August. I agree about taking more time and staying a while. Will a...

Pit Stop Awning
(Preview)
Hi All, I have just bought a "pitstop car awning". I have a Starwagon and while looking through the junk mail came across this. It looks like a small tent that goes on the back of 4wd with suction hooks. I will try it on my side door. Not sure that it will last a long time but if it fits and works as w...

Please do not spoil nearly every topic that comes up
(Preview)
Why is it that every time anyone tries to have any kind of normal chat about any topic on any forum someone come alongs with a flippant comment and then all the other comments that follow are likewise and then that is the end of another discussion. Why can't anyone have a conversation in peace?.Sad...

Where is Dawa?
(Preview)
Has anyone heard from Dawa. She hasn't been on here since 26th June and she hasn't posted in her blog since 25th June. That is very unlike her. I know she was camping alone in NSW in a fairly unknown area. I hope she is ok. If anyone has any news please post.

I blame it all on Mr Mcdowell. He was our history teacher when I was just a 10 yr. old, in fourth class. The detail he went into about Australia, and it's many explorers fasinated me. John McDowell Stuart, Capt. James Cook, Blaxland Wentworth and Lawson, John Sturt, Burke and Wills, etc, etc, etc. Even...

Tyre checks

No doubt, a lot of GN's have vehicles with duel wheels on the rear. If you are going to get a flat at the back, you can bet it's an inside one. I have seen a number of cases where folks who were just getting started on the road, puzzled about how to know if the "insider" had sufficient air in it. Othe...

If you are in the far north, and planning to travel down the west coast, there is a lot to see in the south west. However, the point I am making is, that many travellers get the impression that the Nullabour plain is a long and boring drive. No way. The tourist office in Norseman stock a wonderful book calle...
