Location of tow hitches
(Preview)
Why do some vans have their tow hitch located on a plate at the bottom of the A frame & yet others are fitted to the top? Is there a structural or engineering reason? Since getting our van, I've had a few issues (either scraping the rear step or the tow ball screw on gutters). I thought a week ago at Gilg...

My 15 Amp extension lead is in need of an over haul. Since I filed the earth tang so it fits the 10 amp sockets. However the good sockets and plugs don't seem to be on the shelves anymore. The one I brought from where we all shop on the weekend, is light and flimsy. My cable is, overall diameter too big to go in...

Solar panels

Gday all, looking for some information on solar panels brands. Which brands are better to purchase? I have been told red arc make a quality product but are quite expensive. Is it a case of you get what you pay for or do some of the cheaper ones work just as well as the dearer ones. Any feedback on particula...

Spares underneath van

I would like to relocate my van spare from the rear bumper to a spot underneath the rear of the van chassis. The main reason for wanting to do this is to reduce weight located so far from the axles (enhances stability). I have in mind a frame that the spare is placed on, and then a small winch (a bit like the ha...

Windsor Windcheater (2000) where does the battery go?!?

Hi all Strange one, this caravan has 12v light switches and a 12 option for the 3 way fridge, but I don't see where to hook a battery in, there is no Anderson plug and nothing obvious for a deep cycle location point, It does have a 15 amp hook up, and that powers the 220 switches, but no obvious 12 volt entry po...

Water Tank Quick Filler

My solution -The housings in the type of filler pictured have an air vent hole at the top and so should allow filling at a fast rate. Should, but rarely do due to poor fitting and routing of the hoses. In my caravan 2 litres per minute is the fastest the system could handle! With my home made click adapto...

Has any Fiat Ducato Ovation owner relocated the spare wheel/tyre from underneath the vehicle to, say, on a rack or carrier mounted on a tow bar?
