Dometic / Inverter

Hi all, I am about to try a gas saving trick with my Dometic 3 way fridge. I want to turn the gas off through the day and run my 3000 w inverter to power the the fridge on AC.
Then at night go back to gas.
Has anyone had any success with this technique?
