Can some-one please explain to me how these things work ? Do you need a specific type of Coffee ? Do you use water or milk or either ? Do they have any purpose other than to make froth ?

Thanks in advance, Sheba.
Well, I followed my own advice, and Googled it. For any-one else who doesn't know how these things work, check out this link.
Used to be just for my own pleasure over 20 odd years ago, in a previous life. Have now developed a shoulder problem which rules out getting back into it again unfortunately. I used to love it.
I am alsoSheba and love the sport. Strictly field target for me. 40 lbs recurve tuned exactly to suit me. I have wondered about catching some dinner of a feral type but walking around in the bush with a bow is not a good look and besides no mess and gutz with meat from a butcher
The butchering doesn't bother me. Had to gut and chop in half a good sized boar on the spot once, 'cause when I'd dragged it out to the Tojo, it was too heavy for me to lift up onto the tray in one piece.
The Dogs had it in a thicket, and wouldn't let go. I only had a single-shot Sterling .22 at the time, but risked it, and got lucky. I've still got those tusks.
There are heaps of Bow-hunters out there after Pigs and [mainly I think] Feral Goats.
If you really want to, why not join a Bow-hunters' Club.
Cheers, Sheba.

If you are anywhere near Captains Flat, I have a friend there that makes longbows. He teaches people how to use them and also competes. He also has a Robin Hood outfit for some of the competitions.
I have taken my scout troop over and he has taught them how to shoot, he is also a scout leader. He is also into Harley's
Cheers Allara

Hi Allara, I think i know of the man you are talking about. Makes long bow that are famous the world over. I am a member of two archery clubs. An indoor club that shoots at 18 mts only and a field club that shoots varying distances from 8 to 70 mts. The long bow is for purists and is a very difficult bow to use and not for me, 40 lbs is the max weight i can pull, some of those beasts are as much as 65 lbs and you need that sort of pull to shoot long distances.
Wish I'd known about him years ago Allara. How much do they cost ? I've only ever used the Long-bow. No offence Capt. Cream Bun, but I don't like the newfangled ones with all the [almost litterally] bells and whistles attatched.
Takes most of the Skill out of it I reckon.
Cheers, Sheba.

Don't know what they cost but I do know he makes them to suit the user. He has bows that kids can shoot, as well as the adult, male and female strength bows. He has an archery course around his property complete with a mechanical pig for the kids and others to shoot at. He also showed us how he makes the bows. If you want to PM me I can give you his details.
Cheers Allara

You probably went to the link in the other posts - but one good thing a plunger can be used for is to make cappacino - heat milk - half fill plunger - and plunge up and down like crazy till you get fluff - yum!!

It's all in the grinding Sheba and the roasting of the beans. If you get to Perth swan valley there is a coffee factory there right over the road from the chocolate factory. They the coffee factory do mail order.
The Ice Koffee is great on a hot day with ice cream and so forth.
The de,caff ground for a plunger is amazing.
The other coffee's are great but you have to try to get the right blend.
Also in coffee milk in cup first even in instant as the water burns or roasts the coffee further and the milk stops that so milk first and then water just a tip.
Son went out with a girl who was fasinated with coffee and made a caramel coffee that stopped the judges at a massive coffee festival.
They normally sip and spit but I laughed they sipped and sipped and drank those boy's where staying awake ha ha
You have to ask for the right grind and then put it in the plunger and leave for three minutes and then gently push plunger down.
