It was real grimy when I bought it, so left it sitting on kitchen bench all morning after spraying it with oven cleaner, then gave it a quick scrub under running cold water and it came up clean.
You can see it has teeth all the way along to adjust the height of the arms.

Hi Happy wanderer,
Is it - perhaps - a roasting rack????
Put it in your roasting pan and then adjust it and add your roast. Lets all the juices flow to the pan underneath amd you can use them to make the gravy......
Gives you an 'oil free' cook.......

Also bought these for a couple of dollars each. Better than taking my good saucepans away.
The red lidded saucepan for cooking veges etc and the other one can be used for boiling water for a cuppa.

You could be right Barb, the sloping arms keep it in place and it drips as cooking.

I could only think of some sort of toaster which I can imagine it would be good for too, on an open fire.

It may have many uses.

You might be able to use it for smoking fish?

The kettle type thing looks like a tea pot rather than a kettle.

Allara, it does look like a teapot doesn't it? But will do the job nicely. Quite solid. A good size for boiling water. I drink a lot of cuppa teas during the day.

Sheba, that is exactly what it is. thanks for that. How did you find it so easily? I would have been googling for months to find that.

A tip for you Marj...when you boil your water in the morning, fill up a thermos...or two probably if you have a lot of cuppas.. so you don't waste gas by having to 'boil the billy' several times a day.

Our thermos is the most useful thing we own! I save any left-over hot water in the thermos... even if its not hot enough for a cuppa after sitting there overnight, it only takes a few seconds to reboil. And of course, during the day we use it from the Thermos.

I do that at home as well. You'd be surprised how much you save on your Power Bill.

I always take a Thermo-jug full when I go shopping too. Just re-fill the mug whenever I feel like it in town, without any outlay. Always have a supply of coffee ingredients in the Van.

I have a Holder which fits on the door to hold a Coffee mug.
I'll take a pic, and Post it tomorrow if you don't know what I mean.

It hooks over the door into the Window slot. Will get the shot up tomorrow.

Super Cheap usually has one type, but I don't like them. Too flimsy. The ones I use I got through one of the Mail-order mobs. Magnamail, or Bright-life I think, but it's been a while.

This is the type of mug I use. [No handle. They get in the way.]

Please let me know if this is not a tall Mug. I can't see it.

Here are the Pics. Sorry if they come out too big. Haven't managed to rectify that yet.
I use a straw with those mugs. Easier to drink without spilling anything. Just have to be careful closing the door, in case of splashes.

Sheba, I've got one of those drink containers, its a red Nescafe one, also have one with a handle, a Metalcorp Steel one.
Don't have the carrier though. What a great idea. Will make sure I put the cups with my other stuff to go.

I've got a few Marj. I always cut the Handles off [with a Hacksaw blade] if they have them though. They get in the way in the holder.

No worries Honie. Been trying to find where I got them from, but can't remember, and can't find an old Catalogue.

You have to make sure it is deep enough, and strong enough to hold your container, [cup or mug] without it collapsing, falling out, or spilling anything. Some of them are so flimsy, it should be a crime to sell them.

Hi,

I did think the cup holder was a good thing until!!!! after prolonged use it started to scratch up on the window tint when I open and close the window.

So now they are in the box of things I do not use anymore which seems to get bigger every day. cry

Hi Alan,
I never open that window unless I have to, but I still haven't had that problem after 4 years. Is it the same drinkholder ? There are a few different ones. This one shouldn't scratch anything. There is nothing sharp enough on it.

Yes it is exactly the same type of holder hmm

. Scrapping is just caused by contact with window no sharp edge to cause it is just the routine friction and contact disbelief

.

It is possible that the scrapping on window is also due to design and combination with vehicle type and window angle, mine is a Mitsubishi Canter light truck.

So may work for some but not on all is good idea but for me the window tint is better to keep clear and cost more to repair/replace.

I ended up puting a Waeco Consol Cooler in middle of seats at front it has 2 cup/can holders and added advantage is can keep cold drinks in it whilst travel biggrin

To save gas I often light the campfire and put the big kettle on it for hot water to wash dishes and to save water for cuppas - I just drink beer

Love the way things get off topic here. We start out trying to identify a roast cooker rack and finish in a discussion about drink holders lol. It just wouldn't do on some forums I browse through - but I guess thats why this forum is my favourite - hardly ever anyone gets ants in their pants lol

Isn't it lovely to be able to have a conversation with people we only know on here. It wanders on like a flowing stream from one point to another and at the end we do know each other. Magic!!

What did we do before computers? If there were none around now I would just be a lonely old woman talking to myself.
