Interesting, Glenda... its very similar to a powerful owl. Can you tell us the differences? Theres been a lot of pics of this type of owl on here.

Yes Gerty, The eyes are further apart in the Powerful Owl is much much bigger, striated head, big chest, compared to the a Barking Owl. Compare the two below. Gary took the powerful owl near our place.

Thanks Glenda. Yes, can see the difference now. I hunted down a photo of a powerful owl I took near Buchan Vic, theyre quite different when you compare them. Also the powerful owls feather markings are crosswise as opposed to the lengthwise barking owls markings.
