can any recommend a family tree program that allows;
1 linking a sibling to one parent only ;ie is a child of one parent only
2 (if possible ) you to put pictures or facts into the background (not seen unless opened )
most programs I looked at /tried automatically link children to both parents

I can recommend Synium MacFamily Tree if you are a mac user. It is inexpensive, supports the features you mention and seems to cope well enough with the complicated shenanigans some of my relatives got up to.
Just a quick suggestion for family history buffs to do at the same time YOUR story showing things such as games you played as kids, teachers names, best friends as kid's,where you met each other,first job etc This was suggested by my daughter years ago when she said your doing the ancestors but we know nothing about your early life. It bought back so many memories good and bad
