I checked out the display unit they had at the Melbourne caravan show, and it was way to heavy to be practical, it would have needed an F250 or equivalent to tow it legally, When I spoke to them about it they agreed it did need an american import to tow it. They did not mention that they were down sizing it.
Our new fifth wheeler is being made as we speak. It is suposed to be done mid to end Aug. cant wait. ours is the sixth sold so they are going to be popular. We saw them in Sydney and ordered it right away. Yes you do need a big tow rig to pull it, but its a big unit which can take a lot of gear. We brought a new IVECO DAILY 50C to pull it. Truck is almost finished as well.
The smaller 24 ft ones have been designed for smaller tow rigs to pull.
Plendo, they have not down sized it, they are making two models. 24 ft and the big rig. They are mid range as far as weight goes. Most big american rigs are 5-6 tonne loaded. Jayco is around 4 tonne so not too heavy to be practical. Just right actually.

We never go bush with the van, if we go bush we like to REALY camp and do it in a tent. Have the whole exp. can have the best of both depending on how we feel. Bigger truck also means room to carry two bikes as well as a tinny and folding boat trailer. Doesnt get better than that.
