Making a cheap reverse camera more handy.

I was given a cheap reversing camera for Dad's Day.

Set it up with the camera beside the rego.plate.

Could see well but the fish eye lens made it hard to judge distance.

I have just relocated the camera to the top of the tow hitch.

Used some scrap square & L aluminium, a few cable ties & a touch of glue.A.jpg a.jpg

Now the camera looks down on the tow ball for coupling up, much easier.

Also, now I can judge close distances when parking.

This is a cheap camera to ,and very handy ,I have mine so it can be switched on any time,I can switch between car and van at any time.

 That looks to be a good view Ollie but that monitor appears to block a lot of windscreen area, be careful.

I have an old infrared reversing camera and monitor which I use for seeing up under the dash of cars if doing work on them.

Makes the job very much easier as the camera lights it up like daylight, and I don't have to get these old bones into places that I have trouble extracting them from.

I reckon what you need is remote control of the camera - imagine angle parking (without van) and when you reverse out being to swivel the camera to see oncoming traffic. I've thought of making a simple solenoid operated device for that.
