Just updated with a 2003 ford courier turbo diesel ute. One owner with logbooks , in Townsville, not far from home. 128,000klms, so hardly run in.I paid $7000, so I think I got a bargain.A bit more kws than the old car. Will post more pics when I load slide on
And it has aircon THAT WORKS! I will be swapping bits over from the other ute for a few days, but that's half the fun.As its a similar model, most bits will fit, That's why I bought it. Will try to post some pick of the change over. Bill
Well , got it home, and must say the extra power is a relavation! Went up Horseshoe bay hill, 13% grade , in 4th gear and was accelerating! Once the turbo cames in about 2000 rpm, it really boogies.Fitted the uhf, and tried to remove the old radio / cassette, but stopped due to not wanting to damage it. Will go to a mate who has , shall we say, a shady past.He will know how to remove it.Found out its a Townsville car, and even has the original tool kit and logbook! Will start on the dual battery kit tomorrow , after going to the coppers to change over the rego. Will also start the remove the parafenalia from the other courier. All in all, a good day. Bill

I have just swapped cars, and put the camper on the new one.I don,t think I will have to fit the overider springs as the new one has harder suspension.I took it for a run , and there doesn't seem to be a lot of body roll, so I will wait and see.The next job is to fit the dualbatterysystem, and the water tank. I have 2 water tanks with about 130 ltr capacity. I am going to move the flexible one in between the cab and the camper to give me more storage room. Here's a couple of pics as I go along. Bill
I loaded the water tanks, and the batterys, and found the weight has just about bottomed the springs.I worked it out that the batterys and the water weigh nearly 200kgs,So tommorrow I will fit the load plus springs. Can,t do any harm.Everything works, So I am on schedule for a short trip, perhaps next week. Will Take some pics of fitting the springs. Bill

Good idea going with the springs bill better safe than sorry, looks the goods thus far.
I fitted the load plus extra springs this morning, with no problems ,in about an hour . These are very simple to fit, and would recommend them to anybody with flattened springs or overload problems. Ask Gary Kelly, he has them, also. They also help with stability.I also fitted the dualbattery system, yesterday. I use a marine rotary marine switch which has a I,2 or both or off system. Cost about $20. Work well, with no power input.I usuall leave it on all the time. Having 3 batterys of about 120 amp/hr will runmy rig for 5 days or more. I also have 160watts of solar.everything seems to work, so I will probably go for a trip upthe Atherton tablelands, next week.
bill that's great only cost's you, your time, as you already have the parts from the old rig. You certainly are not mucking around you will be back on the road in no time.
Time is money, as the old scrooge of a skipperI used to work for used to say.I must sayI am looking forward to giving the new rig a run. I am wondering whether the turbo will make a difference to the fuel consumption and the on road performance. my birthday on Sunday, so After a barby on sunday, I will probably leave next week. Bill
