RE: Who is responsible for Greens Lake

Stewart - a very sensible post - we are responsible for ourselves - if I walk out the front here and trip over a rock, should then I sue to have all rocks removed from the site - "just in case".

The amenities here are basic - flushing toilets, cleaned once or twice a week - lit at night - hand basin and tap, a couple of snakes had been seen in the loos a week or so ago, council were rung to send the pest control people out - haven't seen any more in the toilets. But it is about a 1000 acre area, with a lot of grass, reeds and trees - so there will be snakes - just need to be aware.

Going to a meeting early December at the Corop Community Hall to hear discussion on a "draft management plan for Greens Lake", organised by the Corop Community, who have a great interest in keeping the lake a going concern as a camp spot. Will be interesting, and we will post the outcome of the meeting, as well as voicing our support for the Community, which consists of several houses, a shop that sells food, newspapers, alcohol, fuel and bbq gas, as well as being a post office agency. Friendly people in the area.

That Chinese proverb - "He who asks a question is a fool for five minutes; he who does not ask a question remains a fool forever. " just about sums it up.
Good on you Liddle.

I'm enjoying this conversation, in that, I was having a BBQ earlier, a friend tripped over a paver. Started a debate. Could he sue me? Or should i sue the previous owner, who laid the paver ? If I tripped, could I sue the previous owner?
But we were mucking around. Good debate tho. We were just debating for the hell of it
Unfortunately, in today's world, any thing is possible.
I think GN's n travellers would live n let live .
Well, I hope they would.
Same goes for any free camp. Complain, sue, she's a gonna :(
Nah, we don't want that

D & D

Sorry that you read that I was looking for someone to sue, I am certainly not.

I was curious to find out who would offer free camping for an unlimited time and also cover the campers for insurance. The campers must be covered by someone.

When there are thousands of people camping in an area there are bound to be accidents. It is part of life these days that someone must take responsibility. I was curious as to who was responsible. They must have insurance to cover every possible contingent.

Insurance is such a huge factor these days that companys and semi gov  bodies usually cannot afford to have a great number of people free camping on their property. I know people with private property think twice before allowing campers in because of the insurance problem.

Actually Liddle, I perhaps used to work for something similar to Goulbourn Water. For the respect of water companies, I will not divulge further into their details. But I'm picking they would be hard to find fault with. They get audited on a massive basis, purely to stop such incidents of being sued, by anyone, in any aspect. I used to be audited 4 times a year. It was annoying, but the sole purpose was to make sure I wasn't slacking and that we were  "water tight" ( excuse the pun) for any eventuality and we were aware of any new laws.

dont worry about the insurance policies. But equally, if concerned, ask for a copy of those policies, before camping.  happy reading for the next 2 years. Nothing is missed.

if they r letting it be a free camp, they sure know what is going on. And they can stop the right to free campers, any time. It won't take long. lets hope that doesn't happen at Greens.

especially for the locals at Greens.

MaryJane - thanks for you input into this topic - to me for someone to ask "who do I sue" shows me that person is very negative, and has had a nasty experience of life - when we reach our age, we should all be looking at the positive side of life - living and loving life to the full!  Today is the day - yesterday is gone, and tomorrow is another day - some of us have evidence to show this is the best way to live life.

All are welcome at Greens - it is a magic place - would hate for it to be taken away from us - everyone mixes in, campers, locals with boats and jet skis, families out for a day trip and picnic!

Let's just enjoy what we have today!

Well said Jules
We all need to take responsibility for our selves
At my previous employ there was a safety message on the mirrors in the toilets

"You are looking at the person responsible for your safety "

How true
Ken

I agree with Kandagal and also wonder why you are reading the Greens Lake forum Liddle when you don't agree with it.

Scotty, I think the point "Liddle" was trying to make is, there were too many threads about "The" Lake in Solo's.

Mmmmm, does that mean I agree with "Liddle" confuse Nope, no way in the devils room.

What I do agree with is, why is "Liddle here confuseconfuse

Bugga, I said I was gone. Now I am.

WOMBATS FAULT

It's not my bloody fault, I don't do nufink rong (sorry about the spelling, dazren's fault) biggrin

IF somebody did sue then Greens Lake would be no longer, not good for ALL free campers. no

I have now revised my opinion of this site .... I am embarrassed to be a member ... you ask why there is a drop off in contributing posters,  it is obvious that bullying is alive and well in the GN forum.  Its a shame because everyone has something to contribute .. If you cant respond in a polite and positive manner, then, keep quiet .... Liddle dont judge others by this thread sorry ..

I can not wait for the backlash your comment will stir.

Or perhaps they will read forum rules first. They don't normally.

Big fish, small pond. "the Clique" .  won't be far behind you in checking out. I've never been one for 'safety in numbers'. Cliques promote unwanted gossip perhaps.

And Liddle, I'm sorry if I offended you in my response, I was actually just trying to quote it as it is for Water Authorities. I did not mean to offend.

But I won't sign out til I have thoroughly enjoyed all the comments...

Im chuckling to think about it biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Hi all,
Just a reminder that this is, above all, a friendly forum which has earned a reputation for its welcoming nature and its inclusiveness. Of course, with a membership as large as ours has become there will be – from time to time – ‘issues’ that flare up. Differences of opinion are inevitable and help to make life interesting. However, I am always eager to sort out little problems before they become big problems ... but I can’t do anything if I am not aware of them. If anyone has any specific concerns or feels that any post or private message has overstepped the mark, please send me a private message immediately and I can then take what I consider to be appropriate action. I don’t like to hear talk of ‘bullying’ and will not tolerate it. This forum was established as positive, friendly place for people to share advice, stories and experiences  ... and that’s what it will remain. Thanks for your understanding.
