We found ourselves in a terrible situation last winter. We were at Mt Barker in the Adelaide hills. It rained all night, came out to the annex in the morning to discover a swimming pool had taken up residence on our awning, a huge bulge of water over 16 feet of awning, probably 300 litres of water... YIPES!!!
The solution was an old Boy Scout trick. Rafters UNDER the awning and "guy" straps over the top.

BTW with serious arthritis and a recent total knee replacement belting in tent pegs sux the big ones, so I use a rattle gun and 200mm coach bolts from Bunnings. Works a treat even in hard ground.
hahaha.. love the Duck's Guts reference... but the camo straps stick out like dog's... Hmmm Funny thing is, there used to be a pub here in Newcastle that was a cross between the both of them called "The Duck's Nuts Hotel" ....
