Cleaning the loo

Hi all,

just wondering what is the best cleaner for caravan toilets, assuming that Domestos and similar cleaning products are not suitabl.

Thanks k's in advance

there was a post on this a few days ago - cant remember what topic is was under.......but people suggested white vinegar or bicarb to clean the bowl - not the cassette

Wouldn't use Domestos - likely to damage all the rubbers and possibly the plastics in your loo system

Thanks Bruce and Bev,
We are just gathering all the info we need while our van is on order. Lots of stuff to find out. 😊

We use the antibacterial wipes. Then you just throw them out.

Another one for the wipes here. Great invention.

Just as a little detour, I also use hand sanitizer instead of water to clean hands. Saves water when in short supply.

For the cassette was advised by an RV Outlet to use Napisan. The same amount used for washing clothes when placed in the cassette works great.

Another vote for hand sanitizer, but keep it out of the sun - the air inside will expand, forcing the sanitizer to dribble out of the spout. I drill a tiny hole in the top of the plastic bottle to equalise the air pressure ... now I have to ensure it stays upright!

Cheers, Joe

because Thetford makes its own and expensive. cassette cleaning liquid, they will tell you if you use a product like napisan, your warranty is voided - either for cleaning it out or as a replacement for Thetford or other commercially made solid breakdown liquids or solids.

I think the majority of Nomads use Napi-san, but just be aware if your toilet and cassette is under warranty still
