Van Virgins

All very new to this as this is our first caravan after many years in a tent/camper trailer. The dealer we bought this 2004 Regal Desert Series christened us van virgins....my wife was beside herself, and I was next to her!!

On the roof is five 80w solar panels keeping three 105amp batteries in check. It hasn't moved from the front yard as yet and is keeping the gnomes company, plan to get out for a weekend getaway in a couple of weeks and next year in March 6 weeks up north way.

Tow tug is an old 92 Maverick diesel, I like old school -- simple and easy to fix.

Thank you for your comments.

I am still working (swear word to most here) but as time permits we will be heading off as much as we can. Never had a desire to travel overseas but we both have a burning desire to travel Australia.

That's what I like about the Maverick, NO computers. Last year we were heading to Cape York on a 6 week holiday in July but a heart attack at Emerald halted that, we heard from the group we were to go with that creek crossings up there claimed 364 vehicles and yep all were drowned computers.

Cannot beat on computerised vehicles Vince.
Just getting harder to find a good one.
My wife is also non computerised that's why I have stuck with her for 46 years.
She has been a reliable model tho.hehehe

Hi Vince,

Had a 92 Maverick diesel myself...out of all my cars n 4bys (Lots n Lots) over my life its probably the one I wish I had never sold.

Cannot beat their off road ability and simplicity. In my opinion very hard to replicate in todays market. I like my Dmax but really off road its not a patch on how my well set up Maverick performed.

Keep hold of yours, good ones are hard to find now.

Enjoy your new caravan as well.

Cheers AL

Hi Al

Oddly enough we were considering getting a DMax but decided to hang onto the Maverick and I cant see us parting with it, simple mechanics

The caravan is the next exciting adventure and we are going to use it every opportunity that comes

We don't travel real fast but enjoy smelling the roses along the way.

Cheers

Vince

Yep. When we did a trip to the rock a few years back I thought it was funny being overtaken all the time only to find at the end of the days journey that most of them were camping at the same place as us.

I bet we got to see more on the way than the blurr most others did.

One car overtook us three times in a 250k day travel, once was after they filled up at a servo. We do between 80km/h to 95km/h, I find it comfortable cruising

The faster you travel the faster the notes fly out of the wallet.

Welcome Vince and wife We, too, have just started the caravanning life, and we're not in a hurry to get anywhere. We usually sit on between 80-95 kms per hour, depending on the wind. Hope you enjoy your caravanning lifestyle!
