Dirty roof

image.jpg

Have you a dirty roof on your van,my van is not under cover and keeps getting crap on the roof from the trees where I park it,if you are in the same situation here is how I bought it back to new looking,I dampened the roof with water and sprinkled Ajax Powder on it and with a little bit of elbow grease it came up like new.

Ajax might be a rad rough on the paintwork though olley, or to you have a ruberised membrane coating?

Another trick for when the roof is clean to help keeping it that way is to spray the roof with a clear silicone spray, nothing will stick to it thus helps makes cleaning a breeze, in most cases just a medium to high pressure hose off is all that's needed.

I do mine with the water blaster a couple of times a year and it comes up gleaming.

just need to be careful near any sealant joins though.

Yeah, i'm thinking Ajax might be a bit too abrasive, unless it's different to the old ajax.

Fair enough, it must not be like the old Ajax.

Years ago there was a young general hand in the RAAF who used a scotch bright pad to remove bugs and tar from the CO's vehicle when washing it. The CO was not impressed......confuse

We have only washed in car wash solution with a little Kerro in last wash..
With rubber roof I intend to either add some rubber paint to protect another 10-15 years ?
And or make a solution of bees wax and turpentine as a water replant solution..
Have used it on concrete in dairy and nothing sticks to concrete in 15 years ..
My issue with silicon .. It's a pita if you ever need to point your vehicle ..
It just doesn't wipe off ..

not sure the ratio AK uses but as a furniture polish it is normally 50/50. You can by from candle makers, country produce store, sometimes from organic co op's or when you are driving around and some one is selling honey by the side of the road stop and ask if they have wax for sale. Check if someone in your area does it as a hobby and ask them.

You will mainly get offered the yellow wax which has had a basic filter and may still contain bee stings and body parts. I mention this if someone is allergic to bees. You can also buy from commercial places the white wax which is full filtered and treated. They use this in moisturiser creams and make up. A lot more expensive than the yellow and harder to get in small lots. Cheers
