Hi Ian. Welcome, I have towed vans and trailers throughout several States with loads of 2.5 tonnes with ease. Lots of hilly country as well. All done with a trusty reliabLe Ford Falcon Which would be one of the best and most reliable of 2WD tow vehicle on offer. In your situation it should be a breeze. Because I towed very heavy loads I had installed additional air bags to rear suspension but I doubt that you would need that. Good luck. Allen

According to the Caravan Industry / RACQ Towing Limits Guide for May 2012 - the ONLY ratings for Ford Falcons are 1200kg, 1600kg or 2300kg dependent on specific model and specific fittings. I don't know where you get 2500kg towing capacity from ???
Even at the 2300kg limit it states that is with a Ford approved towbar + levelling kit AND speed limited to 80kph when towing the full 2300kg - some models also require a mandatory auto trans cooler kit.
I originally looked into this as I wanted a tow car with 2300kg capacity to tow a van at 2100kg ATM - that would give me 200kg reserve capacity.
As it turned out I finished up with an Avan Aliner weighing only 1100kg towed with a Kia Cerato (1200kg ATM), and I didn't get the Falcon.

Wondering about ShortNorth ? - Short North is the railwayman's nickname for the NSWGR main line between Sydney and Newcastle
Read carefully. Load rating is 2300kg. I said I towed 2500kg regularly, naughty, naughty, but sometimes you just have to do things. Take care out there.
