For anyone who enjoys peace & quiet along with a natural environment experience Green Lake Nature Reserve is at its best in the off season. The birdlife returns after being scattered by speed boats, water skiers & jet skiers as well as fishermen & happy hour grey nomads. A great place to visit in the ''off season'' if you want to avoid the masses up north in QLD. Sitting around the campfire looking up at the stars in total quietness is beautiful. Don't forget your doona it can get chilly but still has some lovely sunny calm winter days. NO STRESS.

Our land abounds in Nature's gifts, of beauty rich & rare. We'll be out there enjoying it somewhere, camped by ourselves much of the time.
Here here I really cannot get my head around staying in one spot (free camp) for months on end, it's just contrary to being a traveler and enjoying the diversity of this great land.
I'm totally with you BaupleNut. There are just so many excellent camp spots, both free and low cost to experience, why anyone would stay in the one place for months at a time is hard to fathom. Basically lazy I suppose.
Not that Green Lake isn't a top spot at the right time of year (when most of the riff raff aren't around). On both of our stays at the lake we've been one of only a very small number of visitors and the peace and quiet was deafening!! BYO firewood.
It's not hard to fathom. I like to be on the waters edge in a lovely place, plenty of time to drive around and see things in the tug. Will be there for three month in Oct for a Red or three cheers ???
I was speaking to a CV mob today and they told me a bloke named Dave instructed them to fit a stainless steel tank not plastic under the van to store red wine instead if water.

Great company makes Greens Lake great, but if bad company, it spoils it.
I, and many others love the place. It is a good spot to set up and explore the different areas out in the "real" world, just up the road.
Make sure you do get there JD as you won't regret it and I tell you that for free. If you see what I have listed in my signature make sure you say hi. I also have a big DOUGWE on the back of the Den.

We're doing a 6 week circuit of north west, north central & north east VIC in Oct-Nov this year. We'll be making a point of calling into Greens on our way around. It is a nice spot when it's not too busy. Agree with Doug that it makes a good base to explore the surrounding area. Looking forward to having a pow-wow & smoking peace pipe. Unfortunately I can't sit cross legged as my sciatica has been giving me hell for most of this year.
