Julie Andrews Turning 79 - this is hysterical!  

To commemorate her birthday, actress/vocalist, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan's Radio  City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP. One of the musical numbers she performed was 'My Favorite Things'  from the legendary movie 'Sound Of Music'.   Here are the lyrics she used: 

 
(Sing It!) - If you sing it, its especially hysterical!!!
 
Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and  handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favourite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favourite things.

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favourite things,

And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,

And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,

Hi Dorian,

Good point! Although a regular visitor to Snopes it did not occur to me on this one. I just took it at face value. Face value obviously cannot be applied to the net.

Yeah - I know, I know ... it is in I Digress and we all know to expect mis-quoted, mis-informed, ill-informed and generally suss info with a tongue-in-cheek attitude - lay back and smile ......... but really.

It would have been equally (perhaps even more) funny without some wasted-space individual trying to tie it to a "celebrity" to give it - what ???? ..... credibility confuseconfuseconfuse

Julie would have thought it "fantastic" that she could have sung the song as well ..............

 I don't think any of us are really getting grumpier. It's just that the amount of rubbish and misinformation is increasing on the forums and we feel the need to counteract it.

In saying that, the verse is still a good one, even though it has been around since the days of the USENET newsgroups. How many of us remember those?

ISTR that many years ago an Australian newspaper journalist published a glowing report about a "fantastic" Madonna concert which he supposedly attended the night before. In fact the concert had been cancelled. My memory is hazy, but some Googling suggests that it may have been the show at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Nov 19, 1993, which was called off due to severe "weather conditions".
