I guess that it comes down to how you organise your cupboards.

In our kitchen cupboard we have just installed a couple of small wire baskets on two of the cupboard doors.

This allow us to then place items like cooking oil  tall bottles and other large items that we use on a daily basis. 

We always had the essential large/ taller  items to the front thus negating easy access to items behind them. 

Now it is much easier to access all essential items.
