My kids gave me a gift for xmas that I wasn't really expecting, like most people of our age I really don't need anything and keep telling them don't waste your money just to give me a card. They did 250 of them - knowing that I enjoyed spending time on the Grey Nomads site they had some business cards printed with my GN avitar, nickname and email address on them just so I could give to people we may meet on our travels.
My eldest grandson gave me for Hristmas his first present brought from his own earning, he did ask for ideas and I said a gift box of hankchiefs and they were beautiful.
Latter on this year will hint for my own business cards.

I agree that's a fantastic idea smart kids you have there .

They are the presents that you appreciate the most Radar the ones you know are heartfelt and haven't just been given because of the occasion. I won't tell the kids but I liked their idea so much that I will get another batch done but this time I will include the GN avitar and remove my mobile phone number - just have my email address. I think that the price is somewhere around $30 for 250 maybe a good idea for the GN gift shop, it would be easy to have a standard card set up that you could just change the avitar, nickname and email address when someone put in an order.

Thanks guys - they also tried to get car stickers done with the avitar but for some reason they told them that the resolution wasn't going to be good enough. Your right Geoff you could do them yourself you would just need to buy the proper paper to print them on. I think that they only cost around $30 for 250 so you might not save that much with the ink you would use and buying the paper. Heres a draft of my modified version don't know if you will be able to open it as its on Powerpoint.

You are probably correct DavRo.
many years ago I made some business cards with a software program and printed them on slim cardboard and then laminated them and cut them individually on the border of each card....That is many hours of my life I will never get back and many dollars as well.
Printing, like most other things is fairly cheap these days...
it could be a great Grey Nomads marketing exercise to have a template that we can use to enter our personal details and then have them printed at a nominal cost....I would be in it.
There are many label programs that work in a similar manner on the internet. I did see one some time ago for printing labels for Home Brew or craft beers. There was a choice of basic templates and you added your personal input and then have them printed.
Yours look like they have that potential...

Office Works (& others) sell blank business cards in A4 perforated sheets, there are a number of free programs around for set up. Avery is one of these.
May not be any cheaper than what,s available but a lot of fun & satisfaction of producing Your own.
Business cards - just use Vistaprint - (easy to find on the Net) Can all be done via your computer
Their system to print cards is easy (lots of styles to choose from and a very simple system to personalize your cards - photos ,colours ,fonts, paper quality etc. )
Costs are minimal, product excellent , service quick (very well packaged ) - all very professional .
Simplest ,easiest ,best value cards I have ever used.
I have been producing my own retiree card for several years and each year I print a different one using a photo I have taken in the last 12 months travels as a background, using a thick photo paper and colour lazer printer.
As 2016 has been an expensive year for us I am thinking of printing $50 notes.might get into trouble again so better stick with scene from travels.

It got the better of me so I went to Vistaprints site...
I have just designed and ordered 250 cards for travelling...so easy and a great price.
Wished I had known about them and used them when I had my business.
Thanks again

Just looking at the original box of cards that the kids gave me they actually came from Vistaprint and in the box is a 20% discount offer on my next purchase .......oh well missed that one could have saved myself another $2.
Cards arrived today from Vista they came out a lot better than the scanned image suggests. I blanked out some of the info for obvious reasons, the layout is good and looks very effective on the glossy cardboard you just need to make sure that you enhance the images enough for them to print clearly. As I suggested before you could set up a template with Vista and sell them through the Grey Nomads shop.
