Noticed Jewel has a spider as an avatar, I got bitten by one of those jewel. Anyway I found a pic from when I was in PNG. This spider is six and a half inches long, a massive web between two trees. On its back is a small spider, the male. Us males have it rough.

Tried all his life
He tried to tickle the hairy legs
Of his larger black widow wife
Suddenly he had a win
Something at last to gloat
She began to laugh aloud
As his leg slid down her throat
Poor male black widow
Was always getting into strife
All because he couldn't understand
The nature of his hairy wife...

Yes ian. It is a Jewel Spider... I saw a large nest of them a few years back and was most impressed with how beautiful they were and how they lived in a community.
Didn't know they would bite... hope it didn't hurt too much.
That spider of yours would certainly give you a fright if you came across it in a dark alley..... Great photo though.
