I have written a few books.

Being one of Australia's "brilliant", but, as yet, undiscovered writers, a friend put a PDF (?) on one of my books.

How do I remove it, please.

I need to add to "When CO-ORD was King". This book is of my time on roadtrains in the NT, Qld. and WA.

Regards.

Pipes

I am usualy fairly good at that sort of thing. Can you clarify what you mean? Are you saying they converted your text file to a PDF and now you want to edit it ?

I like writing books. But with a PDF, I am unable to add anymore stories. The PDF, whatever it is prevents any more work.

Pipes "your friend" should still have the original file you created. To save as a PDF (portable document format) he would have used "save as" which would have left your original copy untouched
Not really sure if you can save a PDF as a word document with Adobe Reader, but you can with a full version of Adobe Acrobat
Have sent you a PM pipes

Definitely who ever did the >PDF conversion should have left you with a text version. txt to PDF is a  bit like a prawn in the barbeque ... you cant "uncook it" . Well not easily any how.

No you can not edit with a reader. If you are going to stick to Adobe software you will need to purchase the Adobe suit.

Pipes, did your friend save the PDF file with a password. If not then it is able to be edited. There are plenty of free PDF software. Here is a list of PDF software. Read through this and try some of the freebies.

I note both LibreOffice and OpenOffice have the capability to possible do the job you require. I would suggest starting with LibreOffice as it is more developed than OpenOffice. Once you have converted the book into a word processor document I suggest you do your editing in LibreOffice Writer. When you have finished the editing save the document as a word processor file. Then also save it as a PDF file. Use the PDF file as the copy you will share. Doing things that way will maintain control of your original document as well as sharing it in a format that others can

Pipes, further to what I said above, in the link I provided you will see free software that you can use like a word processor. You can create documents, save them for distribution and amend them at a future date in that software.

Use a converter to convert it to whatever you like. Converters are avaiable free on the internet, do a search 'free PDF to ??? converter'.

Hi Pipes ..

I certainly enjoyed reading the stories that you sent me a few years ago.

RE the inability to modify the PDF files.

I recently downloaded a free program that is supposed to allow you to do this.  (Able Word)

I haven't used it yet but it looks as though it opens the 'PDF' file as a word doc' or similar & away you go.

Here's  link to Able Word that can write to PDF files
