I am usualy fairly good at that sort of thing. Can you clarify what you mean? Are you saying they converted your text file to a PDF and now you want to edit it ?

Pipes "your friend" should still have the original file you created. To save as a PDF (portable document format) he would have used "save as" which would have left your original copy untouched Not really sure if you can save a PDF as a word document with Adobe Reader, but you can with a full version of Adobe Acrobat Have sent you a PM pipes
Definitely who ever did the >PDF conversion should have left you with a text version. txt to PDF is a bit like a prawn in the barbeque ... you cant "uncook it" . Well not easily any how.

No you can not edit with a reader. If you are going to stick to Adobe software you will need to purchase the Adobe suit.
Pipes, did your friend save the PDF file with a password. If not then it is able to be edited. There are plenty of free PDF software. Here is a list of PDF software. Read through this and try some of the freebies.
I note both LibreOffice and OpenOffice have the capability to possible do the job you require. I would suggest starting with LibreOffice as it is more developed than OpenOffice. Once you have converted the book into a word processor document I suggest you do your editing in LibreOffice Writer. When you have finished the editing save the document as a word processor file. Then also save it as a PDF file. Use the PDF file as the copy you will share. Doing things that way will maintain control of your original document as well as sharing it in a format that others can

Pipes, further to what I said above, in the link I provided you will see free software that you can use like a word processor. You can create documents, save them for distribution and amend them at a future date in that software.
