From the point of view that Peter Beattie couldn't run Qld without building up a massive debt, he is now running the games outfit where they don't know the dates of their own events.

Nuff Said?

Will watch the games on TV. Sounds like you will have fun with the grandies, with plenty of places to visit. Enjoy.

As per usual the Australian media will endow our athletes with unreal expectations putting them under excess pressure to win GOLD medals. Nothing else counts.

Whatever happened to quiet achievers?

Gday...

Ya'd need very deep pockets to want to stay on the Gold Coast during the games -

Big 4 Van Park feesCommonwealth Games 01.JPG

That's about $180/night. I have heard stories (no confirmation) that some van parks around the Gold Coast are charging upto $500/night for the Games.

Cheers - John

I think Peter Beattie was educated in a brothel, every think he takes on he stuffs it.

I have seen the Gold Coast handle complex logistical challenges posed by big events. They seem to have it down to a fine art (a science, more likely).

Hats off to the hundreds of very skilled and practical professionals, white and blue collar, who have been quietly beavering away getting things ready.

The previous 1982 C'wealth Games in Brisbane was an outstanding success.
