That's the beast mate.
I can't understand it really, there are lights just at the back of that pic. Don't these drivers know the height of their truck?

My aluminium teepee is 3mts and I won't go under anything less than 3.2mts disbeliefno

There is a bridge in Seymore Vic that is 3.5mts and I go around the truck detour, easier.

those hire trucks have a big sign in them warning the renter of the height of the van an that the renter is responsible for overhead damage still a lot of them get hit

Coming through Ararat from the Avoca road Google took us under a railway track. Not sure now if it was the Albert St crossing. The road dips down to go under the track. Had to lock all 8 wheels to pull up real fast as after a long drive I just wasn't thinking about bridge heights. Stopped with about an inch to spare. Never been such a nervous wreck in all my life. So close to wrecking the van. Had to stay at the lake there a few days to calm down. Must say though, it's a nice place for relaxing.

Only once have We been in a situation were a low bridge gave us any concern,I hnow the Height of our rig and we had a clearance of under a meter according to the specs on the sign,but even so I had wifey standing on the road keeping an eye on things as we approached the entrance,paused just before the van entered got the thumbs up,if there was a problem just back away it might cause a bit of inconvenience for those behind,but a wrecked van would cause a lot more inconvenience.

 This one will cop a huge bill as would be a write of, no insurance on overhead damage on hire trucks.smile

Can't remember where it was, we struck some roadworks on our trip last year and the detour was via a low bridge that was 3.1 mt clearance, well we're 3.2mt. We went back to the roadworks and asked for an alternate route which then took us 25k's out of out way. I can't believe though that the roadworks crew would detour ALL vehicles despite knowing of the low bridge.

Brisbane has some 'interesting' bridges.

Search the 'duck' bridge at Wynnum. A place to test the height of your fourby while scaring any passengers? Maybe not!

BTW, I believe that any road traffic collision with a railway bridge results in an expensive delay and engineering inspection before rail can use it. Talking about the Brissie bridges but assume that would be the case elsewhere.

Yeah, happened to me about 5 years ago. Rented a truck, just stopped with a few meters to spare. Had to reverse back and caused a fair bit of caos. Better than hitting the low bridge though. Lol
