Hi all. Yesterday we had breakfast and went to see if Jetski operations were a goer. They were and the guy finally got us on. We had to go 300 meters at walking pace due to rules and regulations. When we got past the that point I slowly got a little faster asking Eril if all was ok. It was dragging the tail down and needed enough speed to get up on the "step".
Seemed to be going ok when there was the wake from another boat at about 45 degrees. I was still aiming to go straight ahead until I became comfortable before starting any turns. Not sure exactly what happened BUT got speed wobbles and we got chucked off, at this point wishing I had told Eril to drive!!! There is a safety chord around my wrist that pulls a pin to stop the engine. We were both ok but the life jackets rose up on our bodies BUT being salt water we floated quite easily. Another jetskier came and pulled me the 10 meters to our jetski. By then the owners right hand man came to help me back on AND that was very difficult as I don't have any strength to pull myself to help him. Finally after much huffing and puffing I was sitting in the driving position again, and struggling for breath and having swallowed some sea water. He could not get Eril onto my or his ski so he went back and got a surf type board to tow her back to port.
Then I had a go on my own and without the extra weight to balance I did ok. Not as easy as I thought and I was a bit apprahensive after crashing out!!! Quite sensitive throttle and steering. Anyway we all got back in and as the boss was helping me to dismount and get me over the rocks I realised my Iphone 6 was in my pocket.
6000 francs for 15 mins, and a fu**ed phone.
Aussie Paul.

Well done Paul and Eril. You are both braver that me. I was offered a ride on a Jet Ski at Greens Lake earlier this year but Ben, the young bloke was a hoon on it, so I gave it a miss.

Hi AP
It's worth checking your travel insurance too as many policies no longer cover you for activities such as jet-skiing, parasailing, riding on a motorbike etc. unless you have a specific clause indicating you have that cover. Remember the large print giveth and the small print taketh away! Spoils the fun I know but better to know what you're covered for.
Cheers, Kay
