Some of you may remember Simmo on this forum, my wife Carol and I had moring tea and lunch with him and his good wife Val at their CP abode and at a roadhouse cafe in Carnarvon last week. They live in the Big Four CP and have done so for about 18 years.
I last met Simmo and Val in the 50's in Innaloo, WA, before they were married so the meet up for the first time since then was most enjoyable and lots of stories to tell about our growing up and schooling in the area. Simmo and I were next door kid neighbours.
I recognised Simmo from his posts and stories on GN, we PM'd each other and have been in contact since.
So a big thanks to Cindy for providing the platform and opportunity to get in contact with each other after so many years, it is most appreciated.

Yair ... I've been round long enough to remember Simmo & his sometimes provocative posts.
Wouldn't it to be momentous to have a happy hour around a campfire at Greens with Simmo, Macca (who'd done it all) & maybe Dave06 ( and 'the dragon'. 'Everybody loved' Dave and his Italian? family get togethers .. or so he told us, who knew everything & could do everything too), throw in Wombat to make the foursome. Perhaps Jim & Leonie (lovely people) could be the moderators with Crusin' Granny using her journalistic skills to take notes for prosperity.
What a memorable get together that would make.
What is it about me that makes me fondly recall the characters who have left the forum, some under a cloud?
ps. If you don't know who Jim & Leonie are then you will probably not get my point anyway.
good to see you still enjoying life Vic cheers blaze ps have ya seen much of the hairy arsed wombat
Thanks blaze, have not seen Wombat for awhile, he has not been well but expect he will be back on top of things soon with a bit of luck. Like many of us wrinklies our health is not what it used to be, but that's life and to be expected. Hope you and your are going well also. Called into to see Simmo on the way down from Exmouth tripping home, noticed the mass exodus of grey nomods/tourists from Perth area heading north, think I headed south at the right time. If I hear more about Wombat I'll let you know.
Yep, have met Jim & Leonie and agree wholeheartedly Cupie. A meeting of the characters mentioned would be interesting although I wouldn't put Simmo in the same class, he doesn't tell porkies like some of those others, provocative or not. You forgot Billy, he could be the ringmaster, another interesting and forthright character, I'm sure Jules would agree.
Not likely to happen, but an interesting concept.

Hi Jules, like most of us around my age, the wheels are falling off etc, can't drive the long distances I used to, only shorter trips in future. Wombie has been very ill and in hospital (out now I think but not sure) and of course things are still not good with Phil and Sue (Sufil) from when I last heard, but improving a bit. Carol caught up with them by accident in the Perth region recently. Hope you are both well.
the good old days on the forum, did I say that cheers blaze
Yes, we had some characters then that's for sure, good and bad, lol Here is a pic of my Simmo catch up in Carnarvon recently, left to right and front, me, John (Simmo) and his wife Val in front. I had not seen Simmo or Val for 60 years when we were still teenagers.
