I can see you are getting better , like the solar panel inspection. Can you lift the camera up a bit ? Cheers

I will have a look at that soon Hans. I have put in a complaint via Paypal as the switch is faulty AND the controller does not "beep" with commands that it should. Son Matt's does "beep" to let you know it has responded to that command. Important when changing the response rate, or going to headless mode.

Well, you never know what is in store when you wake up!!! A couple of days ago I woke and had a look at my phone while the electric blanket warmed up my back. Opened FB and noticed there was a new message in FB market place. I opened it and there was a DJI Phantom vision + drone for $450 available here in Ballarat. Thread said it had never been assembled or flown. Also had a spare battery. The ad also mentioned it was back on the market after a sale fell through.

After getting organised I began researching this drone model and could see no reason not to buy it. Messaged the guy offering $400 cash and immediate pick up. He got back to me and we split the difference and I would pick it up at 5.30. I really had not made a decision on whether I would be able to continue with/afford a good drone BUT at that money and the little bit of success with the cheapie I bit the bullet. biggrin

Got it home and plugged a battery to the charger. Strange that after an hour nothing showing. Now to my friend "the web". Ah ha, batteries probably stuffed. I messaged the seller and he was unaware of drone battery storage requirements as was I. He sent me his receipt ( he paid $1479 in January 2015)so I could approach DJI for some help. They did not want to know me as out of warranty so back on the web to learn more. Batteries may be able to be rejuvenated, refurbished, buy new OEM @ over $100, or knock offs.

I still believe I got a bargain though. biggrin

I lost the drone last night. Dave next door was yelling at his dogs because they were barking at me looking over the fence, I said to Dave I had lost Matt's drone and if he saw some little flashing lights grab it for me. It could have been on any of our roofs!!! He must have gone out to his back yard and had a look in the long grass as he brought it back.biggrin
Got to be more careful to keep it over the paddock. Very difficult with my eyesight to see this little one. Have to have a quick glance at the mobile to see which way the camera is pointing as I can't see the red or blue LEDs. no

Inside practice.  https://youtu.be/MZG1VFc8ypc
Waiting on a Battery for the Phantom 2, so practicing, practicing, and practicing. Van is not getting much of a look in at the moment.biggrin
Anyone got a flight simulator for drones?

Matt is getting a simulator sorted for my DJI controller. He probably reckons a good investment of his time so I don't completely lose HIS drone.biggrin

Slowly improving the flying, filming, and editing.

A simulator should help when weather is too rough.

Still waiting for the battery, expected in around another week.

Can I give one piece of advice, do NOT practice indoors!

Indoor flying safely is something you aspire to after many hours honing your skills outside, up high where there is nothing to hit. biggrin

Also, slow your movements yawing and changing directions, your viewers will thank you for it.

Thanks Neil, only using the the tiny drone indoors. The tiny controller with this tiny 100mm drone is very difficult for my hands and fingers to control. I think I accidentally did a couple of flips there tonight!!!biggrin The DJI controller is much more comfortable for my geriatric hands. A laptop simulator should help.

As with all my aircraft flying flying since I was 12 years old, slowly, slowly with practice and patience wins the aviation race. thumbsup.gif

You will have a lot of fun with the Phantom, DJI make excellent drones.  I have been flying a Mavic Pro for over a year now.

What phone/tablet will you use to fly?  Both Android and Apple are supported but I have found Apple to be more reliable.  I use a iPad Mini4.

Have you watched any Set-up/flight videos?

This page may be useful if you haven't seen it...  https://www.dji.com/phantom-2-vision
