Although the Grey Nomads forum is focussed on issues affecting the grey nomad lifestyle, discussions do sometimes meander into other areas of general interest, particularly in our I Digress section. We do however ask that members avoid discussion of politics and religion as experience has taught us that these issues can lead to bad feeling and this is, above all, a positive forum.
I think the rule is too strict, a "chat about anything" section would give us something else to discuss, rather than the same repeated boring questions, with the same boring answers Oh TIA to finish it off. I have been on a couple of forums that had lively discussions, no harm ever came of them.
Back to the subject, there is no-one of suitable caliber to make PM in the ranks. Wing nuts was OK, my only beef was that he walks around as though he's wet himself.
I think the person you describe has suffered the same fate as the dodo.
I'm afraid I have to agree with you John. As a Labor supporter ever since Gough promised to get us out of Vietnam, I'm at a loss as to who to vote for lately. Its been a long time since I've seen a truly viable option from either party.

Totally agree. We're not children. We'd discuss this around a campfire with the same people involved, so why not here in my favourite forum?
And off topic.......what does TIA mean please?

Forum rules.
Quite a few members seem to habitually click on the General Forum & never go to any other section of this forum. Laziness? Probably?
We draw this conclusion from the fact that they never post or reply to any threads in anything but the General Forum.

John Howard Peter Costello those were the days ,when Australia was great,on The other side of the coin Hawk Keating ,am I missing something Iam not trying to be controversial....
The next prime minister hopefully will be in the caliber of the above ,just my view Howard should have given Costello a go and we would be in a better position then we are now, Iam probably overstepping the mark with these comments but. I feel it needed to be said.....

Poli - a Latin term meaning many
Tic (k)s - a blood sucking creature.
Someone once said of our Politicians - same clowns, different circus - and I think that about sums them all up!
Who do we vote for? Or, more correctly, who can we vote for who will genuinely have the needs of their constituency as their first priority? I have no idea. They have pretty well descended into an anarchical farce.

Too many lobiests these days . Extremes of interests . Need some coal generation . Some not total . Assist in solar etc . Not at the expense of poor people who cannot afford solar ! Same with emergrants . Maybe not 200,000 a year . Build infrastructure to help us all through drought or tuff times . Not selling it off where profits go overseas ., Our tolls in Sydney as example make $1billion ..

I agree.
It seems to me forum admins get so worked up about the possibility of "colourful" discussions that they often turn the forum into a dull and repetitive place.
People will have debates and disagreements - that is the nature of people. However the vast majority keep it generally civil and even those who disagree vehemently usually forgive one-another in time. Personally, after about a week, I've forgotten who I argued with and why :)
Debate is the spice of life and when done well is informative and challenging and makes us consider our thoughts and opinions and that *has* to be a good thing.
Providing abuse or foul language is not being used then I think admins should let it be - the debate will die a natural death, they always do.
