Low Act

I was just talking to my next door neighbour and I asked him where their new Suburu Liberty was that they had bought 2 weeks ago. He told me that his wife had taken it to a large local shopping complex (Charlestown Square) and parked it on the 6th level of the parking station because there were only a few other vehicles so it was less likely to get shopping trolley damage. When she came out she noticed that someone had left an empty Tic Tac container on the roof. She went to remove it and found that it had been stuck there with super glue not only that it looked like the whole lot of the glue had been emptied on the roof, on the windscreen, the doors and rubber seals. There are no security cameras in that area of the carpark to try and catch those responsible so they now have to use their insurance to repair the car which includes a new windscreen, new door seals and a respray. They are both devistated as this was their first brand new car and with less than 500kms on it some feral has done this to them.

Low class act, to be sure.

I have removed super glue from many surfaces without damaging the underlying surface. It chips off glass easily with a sharp scrapper and comes off rubber with a bit of steel wool. A Google search will find suggestions for removing the glue. Acetone, for example, will not damage a car's duco. A bit of research before making an insurance claim my save a lot of money.

Thanks Iza you are right and if it hadn't been a brand new car I guess they probably would have tried a few things in order to save the $600 excess. They are pretty upset about the whole episode and just want to get their car fixed back to an as new condition again ASAP.
