Good story ... and I reckon whilst I haven't met this bloke, I have met heaps of his 'counterparts' in my ten years on the road full-time.
I know there are dozens on this forum (and other forums I frequent) that have very similar stories.
I retired (self-funded) at 61, sold all kit and kaboodle and hit the road with my van and Landy. Not a single regret I can tell ya. I get supplemented by a small part-time pension these days, which gives me cheap scripts and usually bulk-billed docs - and that is a good saving I can tell ya.
It is THE life ... I will never settle down to a bricks and mortar existence ... unless health gets so bad - then it will be some little place away from 'civilisation' or the ashes sprinkled in some babbling creek somewhere.
Thanks for the story ... reinforces my life-style choice.
Cheers - John
